Just a short walk up the beach from FDR Pebbles is the Bamboo Village craft market: if you walk past, you'll undoubtedly be called to, and urged to shop.
The craft market is much more extensive than it appears from the beach. When we visited (off-season, in April) the place was strangely deserted except for the vendors; but apparently the market does get group-tourist trade.

Though vendors definitely encouraged us to enter such establishments as "JC Penney", none were aggressive; still, you'll probably feel most comfortable if you visit with your vacation nanny.
You'll find all sorts of crafts within the shops-- prices negotiable. Remember: once you actually engage in the bartering process, you're expected to buy something. Try to have a firm idea of how much you want to pay, before you actually begin the numbers game.
