Unplugging the kids: how to play Charades

Many of us still cherish vacation time where family members are not plugged in to electronics, cell phones, and media. Maybe it's a cottage by a lake; maybe it's resort that deliberately offers an electronics-free zone.

In any case, one very fun un-plugged activity with kids is Charades. The only equipment required is a watch with a second-hand. (Serious players will soon long for a stopwatch.) Best of all, kids as young as three can play and act out simple movie titles such as "The Lion King."

It's fun, and funny, and all you really need besides the watch is a willingness to laugh at yourself when you look ridiculous. (Your kids, of course, will cherish the moments when parents look silliest.)

Read on, for the rules of play for Charades.
