Sunscape Casa Del Mar La Romana - background
Sunscape Casa Del Mar is in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic, about an hour's drive from Punta Cana airport, or 20 minutes from the smaller La Romana airport. The fishing village of Bayahibe is nearby, so guests can do some exploring outside the resort.
Another Sunscape property in the DR is Sunscape The Beach, not far from Punta Cana. Sunscape is part of AMresorts, which also has the Dreams and Secrets brands.

Sunscape Casa Del Mar - For Families
Explorer's Club For Kids takes ages 3 to 12; activities include arts and crafts, horseback riding, sandcastle competitions, excursions, movies on the beach on big screen TV, ocean trampoline, weekly campout adventures.
The head traveling-mom at VacationKids, Sally Black, calls this a "gorgeous resort", with a protected beach and a quaint fishing village nearby.
Visitors comments note that the beach has shallow kid-friendly areas, and that the snorkeling's really fun for kids.
Junior suites are "family of five friendly", with two separate rooms and a door between.
Keep in Mind
-some visitors report that Sunscape's kids club are best for kids 3 to 7 and older kids may not want to go. Check recent comments at a site like TripAdvisor
-there may be some topless sunbathing (if European visitors are in attendance)
-if you want tv... kids' channels tend to be in Spanish. Rooms have DVD players, so bring your own (or rent at the resort)
-at busy periods, lounge chairs in shade get "reserved" by early morning (check resort site for visitor comments/ updates)
-there is a "pool towel card" system (as is common in the DR)
-bring your own snorkeling gear and you can snorkel anytime. Visitors comments note that snorkeling here is better than at Sunscape the Beach.
