Moon Palace Golf Resort & Spa: Background

The Moon Palace is not strictly in Cancun but is usually classed as a Cancun all-inclusive; location is 5 miles south of the Cancun airport, with nearly 2000 feet of white sand beach and 55 acres of lush foliage. Driving time to Cancun central is about 40 minutes.

The Moon Palace is well-placed for day trips: it's at the top of the Mayan Riviera, which offers coral reef, snorkeling lagoons, Mayan ruins, and unique eco-theme parks.

This is a large resort, with over 2000 rooms (and some suites) in 3-story buildings, most with ocean or partial ocean view; all have balconies or terraces. There are ten restaurants, buffet and a la carte.

The Palace brand has several other properties in Cancun and the Riviera Maya that share a "Stay at one, enjoy all" policy: guests can make day-visits to other resorts. from this resort, guests could day-trip to Palace resorts in Cancun, Isla Mujeres, or the Mayan Riviera.

Another Palace feature is "Palace Passport" -- see below.

As at most all-inclusives, guests can expect daily activities, non-motorized watersports, and night entertainment.

Moon Palace: features

  • two large lagoon-style outdoor pools, 4 wim-up bars
  • two kiddie pools
  • watersports marine

tennis courts, basletball courts, beach volleyball

  • fitness centers, yoga, pilates, meditation garden
  • miniature golf course, climbing tower, bicycles
  • 24-hour room service
  • Jack Nicklaus Signature Course
  • opportunity to visit sister Palace Resorts
  • turndown service, bathrobes and slippers, purified water in room (liquor, too)
  • A nice perk at Palace resorts are the all-included "Palace Passport" tours. For example, guests at the Cancun resorts (Beach Palace, Sun Palace, Cancun Palace, Moon Palace) can try outings to: Chichen-Itza Mayan ruins; Wet'n Wild waterpark; Tulum Mayan ruins/Xpu-Ha; Isla Mujeres; Coba (Mayan ruins); Ek-Balam/Valladolid; and a snorkeling outing. (Check tours). (For US, Canada, and Mexico residents only.)

    For families:

  • kids club takes ages four to ten
  • paintball for ages 13 and up (extra charge)
  • Keep in Mind about Palace Golf Resort

    • beach can be "red-flag"
    • this is a large resort, expect to do some walking!
    • look for an all-inclusive golf package with unlimited green fees, round trip to and from hotel, snacks and beverages at the course and a shared golf cart
    • like most resorts on the Mayan Riviera, location is secluded
    • the resort is divided into two sections, Sunrise and Nizuc
    • can feel crowded at peak season, hard to get pool loungers
