Where are Franklyn D. Resort and FDR Pebbles located?

Franklyn D. Resort and FDR Pebbles are both mid-sized all inclusive resorts on the north coast of Jamaica. Franklyn D. Resort is 45 miles from Montego Bay airport, and has seventy-six large suites "in the style of an elegant Jamaican home." FDR Pebbles is 25 miles from Montego Bay airport, and has 96 "junior suites".

What's special about Franklyn D. Resort and FDR Pebbles for families?

Vacation Nanny

The outstanding and unique feature about these resorts is that each family has their own "vacation nanny" throughout their stay.

The "vacation nanny" idea is super, especially for families with wee kids. Your nanny is available 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (minus an hour for lunch), and she'll continue in the evening for $4/hr.* She also stocks your fridge with snacks and drinks, cleans your room, and is generally helpful-- for example, signing your kids up for activities.

Many families bond with their nanny, and ask for the same nanny trip after trip.

Other family-friendly features

Because FDR and Pebbles are both family resorts, everything is geared towards family fun. Both resorts are mid-sized, with under 100 suites; and this smaller size, plus the presence of so many vacation nannies, makes for a friendly ambiance.

  • kids programs. At both resorts, a kids' center for ages up to 12 is open well into the evening. Many scheduled activities are offered during the day; generally, kids are accompanied by their vacation nannies but parents too can sign up for snorkeling trips etc. For teens, program coordinators work hard to involve kids in activities. At Pebbles, a campout on the Martha Brae River is a fun event for teens/preteens.
  • lots of all-included activities. Power walks for parents; glass-bottom boat rides; snorkeling trips; tennis lessons; kayaking; bike rides; magic shows by the pool; lots more-- see reviews below. Older kids can also learn to windsurf or sail. (Scuba, for ages 10 and up, entails an extra charge.)
  • kids meals: are a cinch, with kiddie corners at buffets, special kids' restaurants, ice-cream stands-- read details in the two reviews, below.
  • A plus at Franklyn D. Resort is extra-large suites. Our huge suite had full kitchen; dining area; large sitting area with tv and french doors; large master bedroom, with french doors; kids' bedroom with two single beds; two (smallish) bathrooms. And two-story units are larger still.
