- Theme Parks Scare Up Halloween Events
Halloween at theme parks means haunted houses, mazes, scary shows-- About's guide for Theme Parks covers the scene. Some of these events are for big kids only.
- Great Wolf Lodges: Howl-O-Ween
There are now nine of these lodges with indoor waterparks -- in the Poconos, Kansas City, Williamsburg, and more-- and Howl-O-Ween haunts all of them. Original Lodge in Wisconsin Dells has costume contest, nightly trick-or-treat, pumpkin decorating, spooktacular story time; horse-drawn hay rides, Wiley's Petrified Forest.

- NY City Halloween for Kids at GoCity Kids
Make your way to the calendar for "Holiday / Seasonal" for even more family fun events, including parades, carnivals, Pier of Fear, neighbourhood festivals, Haunted Walk and Carnival in Brooklyn (where over 2500 kids a year walk through a forest filled with goblins, mummies, etc.) , and much more.
- Pennsylvania:
Sesame Place: Count Dracula's Halloween Spooktacular Party On weekends, catch The Count's Halloween Spooktacular: come in costume; trick-or-treat in the theme park; decorate a pumpkin; go for a hayride; tour the Count's Castle. Also, check Events at the website to find out about an annual party, and "Sesame After Dark" with a Halloween theme. Sesame Place is located near Langhorne PA, 30 minutes from Philadelphia, 90 minutes from NYC.
- Skytop Lodge Edgar Allan Poe Weekends
This huge Dutch Colonial stone lodge has 70 years of history, 5500 acres of forest, multiple family activities, and theme weekends including Edgar Allan Poe weekends throughout November; if you want more scary fun after Halloween, this could be your chance, with a Prince's Ball, Freakish Feasts, children's stories and games, scary laughing contest.
- Hershey PA: Hersheypark in the Dark and more
Three hours from NYC, 1.5 hours from Baltimore, Chocolate Town USA goes all out for Halloween. Hershey PA has a bunch of Hershey attractions, most notably a classy 1930's hotel, and the Hersheypark theme park with kiddie fun and wild coasters too. Three weekends in October feature: Hersheypark in the Dark, Hershey's Trick-or-Treat Adventure, and more; grownups can also try Celebrate Midnight With Poe, entertainment and midnight reception.
- Shocktoberfest
This 30-acre haunted theme park is seriously scary, with attractions such as Prison of the Dead (a 50,000 sq. ft. indoor/outdoor experience) and Toxic Asylum 3D Extreme. Five minutes from Reading PA, short drive from Philly.
- Norfolk VA
Events include: Virginia Children's Festival , October 6, 2007 , with kids Costume Day Parade; night campout at the Norfolk Botanical Garden's Enchanted Forest, Oct. 27 - 28, 2007.
- Washington, DC
Halloween Fun in DC roundup of spooky events includes the seriously creepy but also plenty for families too: such as Boo at the Zoo, Discovery Theater's Pumpkin Party, a "Creepy Crawler" tour of the Washington National Cathedral, and more.
- Florida:
Florida Celebrates Halloween

Walt Disney World:
Mickey's Not-so-scary Halloween Party

- Haunted Wisconsin
A whole haunted state! Don't be scared by the macabre welcome page, which is geared more to teens and truly-scary events; if you click "Events," you can select Event Type, and then choose "Family" or "Hayride" for gentler fun.
- Cedar Point, Ohio
"HalloWeekends" has a parade, Fright Zone, haunted houses for little kids, resort packages, Halloween shows, pumpkin carving, costume contests. Fright Nights on Fridays. A number of coasters and rides are open (weather permitting.)
California:
Legoland, California
The 128-acre Legoland in Carslbad has an annual Brick or Trick celebration with Halloween theme shows and attractions, spooky characters, daily costume contests, ghoulish entertainment, and LEGO models like this witch made out of 54,000 LEGO bricks. 2005 LEGO creations include a six-foot wide LEGO pumpkin that weighs 350 pounds. Kids can trick-or-treat on a kid-sized Brick-or-Treat trail.

Los Angeles - Halloween Events

Disneyland Halloween
Mickey's Halloween Treat started up in 2006, a special party on several nights (-- you'll need a special ticket for this event.) Also, the classic Haunted Mansion ride meets Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas for "Haunted Mansion Holiday": the Haunted Mansion gets decorated for a "Scary Christmas", and Jack Skellington and other characters from Nightmare Before Christmas appear. Luckily, this is Disney World, so things can't get too nasty. In the past, the Haunted Mansion Holiday has continued through the Holiday Season.
- Unversal Studios Hollywood: CityWalk Spook-tacular Trick-or-Treat
Forounger kids, Universal CityWalk is teaming up with L.A.Parent magazine, to put on a fun afternoon of trick-or-treating, costume contests, live entertainment, and appearances by characters such as the Mummy. October 31 2007, 4 to 8 pm. Check for info at www.citywalkhollywood.com or call 818/622-4455.
- Knott's Berry Farm Halloween Haunt
Knott's Berry Farm in Southern California (150 acres of rides and attractions) has lots of horror every year. Another place that's probably not for little kids!

Black Cat Ball, haunted forest, and more -- from About's Guide for Northwest for Visitors.
Meanwhile, on the Big Island, the Waikoloa Beach Marriott-- one of the Outrigger Hotels-- has for several years hosted "Hawaii's Best Spooky Tales" with an author/storyteller on October 31. It's likely there'll be a repeat in 2007.
- London Halloween Events
London is a terrific city to visit with kids, and if you go at Halloween there's extra fun: ghost walk, Creepy Family Cruise, London Dungeon... and a bonus: off-season airfares and rates for hotels.
- France
Halloween in France? Well, some of the earliest Halloween traditions started in Europe. Though seen as primarily an American holiday, recently Halloween celebrations are becoming more popular in France. About's Guide for France for Visitors covers the scene.
