Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary
This beachside Sanctuary is fun to visit and has an inspirational story: long ago, founder/director Ralph Heath took one wounded cormorant to a veterinarian friend, little suspecting he was starting a life's work of bird rescue. 30 years later, he's still there, the Sanctuary has hundreds of pelicans and cormorants, and 30-odd birds arrive each day. Admission is free to this hard-working institution, supported entirely by donation. (More pix below).
