A two-hour flight southeast of Miami, The US Virgin Islands offer a Caribbean experience that's still part of the US.
The three distinctive US Virgin Islands are: sleepy St. Croix, bustling St. Thomas, (visited by many cruise ships), and St. John which is largely a National Park. The USVI offers white-sand beaches, super snorkeling, colonial towns and forts, duty-free shops; resorts range from upscale to "upscale camping".
For booking and travel through Dec. 15 2004: 5-night package includes accommodations, coupon booklet worth up to $500 at local retailers, airport transfers. Many properties are participating including, on St. Croix, Carrington's Inn ($399), and Chenay Bay Beach Resort ($559) ; on St. John, Concordia Estates ($355) and Harmony Studios ($379) ; and on St. Thomas, Bella Vista Bed & Breakfast ($495). Rates are per person, based on double occupancy, and include hotel taxes and service charges.
