Jaguar Reef Lodge is in Belize, the small country with beaches on the Caribbean just south of Mexico's Yucatan. (Read more about Belize Vacations.)
Belize has a number of "eco-lodges", and the Jaguar Reef Lodge combines reef plus rainforest, with 300 acres of wilderness, 1,000 feet of white sand beach, snorkeling, diving, etc. The Lodge is approx. 2.5 hours from the airport; transportation is provided, and may include a stop at a swimming hole if time permits.
Kids "eat free, sleep free, and play hard." Kids 14 and under eat and sleep free; families stay in air-conditioned 2-bedroom, 2-bath suites on the beach; package is basically all-inclusive, with 7-nights lodging, meals, taxes, transfers, free use of bikes, kayaks, sail boats, snorkel and fishing gear; and adventure tours such as cave tubing and jungle exploring.
Jaguar Reef Lodge sometimes offers this package that includes a nocturnal safari. Guests -- if lucky -- can view jaguars with night-vision equipment as the animals roam throughout the 100,000-acre Cockscomb Basin Sanctuary.
