Skytop Lodge: background:
Skytop Lodge is located in the Poconos in northeast Pennsylvania, near the town of Canadensis, approx. 2 hours from Newark airport, 1 hour from the Lehigh Valley International Airport/Allentown.A huge Dutch Colonial stone Lodge sits within 5500 acres of forest. The historic Lodge has 125 standard rooms or mini-suites. Ten four-bedroom cottages are available; also, golfers can stay in the 20-room luxury Inn at Skytop right on the golf course.
What's Special about Skytop Lodge for families:
At Skytop Lodge, families can stay at a grand historic property plus have plenty of family fun: outdoors recreation, kids' programs, theme weekends.Family nature walks are offered year-round by Skytop Lodge's own naturalist. Seasonal fun includes archery, golf, indoor pool & kiddie pool, outdoor pool, mountain biking, fly-fishing school; x-country & downhill skiing (gentle) on a private mountain, snowshoeing, sledding, ice fishing, ice-skating in a covered rink.
Let's not forget High Tea, and lounging by the huge stone fireplace. Also, for 50 years Skytop has featured Theme Weekends. Current choices might include: Spoo-Tacular (near Halloween), or Gingerbread Weekend in December.
Kids' programs:
Camp in the Clouds, for kids 4-10, runs late-June to end of August.
Family Fun and Other Packages:
Check for Family Fun Packages that includes three meals per person and all seasonal recreational facilities and activities; the longer you stay, the better the rate. (Not available during holiday periods.) Other packages include Mother's Day Weekend, July 4th, Labor day, etc.
Keep in mind about Skytop Lodge:
