Split Rock Resort: Background
Split Rock is a four-season resort in the popular Poconos region of Pennsylvania. Driving time from New York City is about two hours; from Philadelphia, about an hour and 45 minutes.
Split Rock Resort is a large property, with 500 acres including 125 acres on Lake Harmony, in the midst of scenery that you can explore by hiking, biking, or snow sports. Split Rock is near several ski resorts.
And added to this outdoor fun in 2008: a 53,000 sq. foot indoor water park called H2Oooohh!
Split Rock: Features
Accommodations include hotel rooms, suites, rustic cottages, villas, and an "Austrian-style" lakeside lodge.
The H2Oooohh! water park is medium-sized, in the competitive "who's got the biggest" world of indoor water par resorts, but sure to a hit with families. Our Guide for Theme Parks covers Split Rock's indoor water park, which has a family raft ride, a large wave pool, various water-slides and waterplay, and a FlowRider wave-making attraction for surfing and boogie boards.
Other activities at Split Rock resort are include: miniature golf, indoor and outdoor tennis, archery, bocci ball, a movie theater, bowling alley, health club, golf course, sailing on the lake, fishing, paddle boats, water-skiing, hiking, biking, cross-country and downhill skiing in wintertime, and golf at the Split Rock Country Club.
See the web site for more about recreation; some activities are free, some not. Check also for evening entertainment, or a wine and food festival in June.
Kids Programs
Split Rock Resort offers three sessions a day, during summer months, for kids age three and up, and at a modest cost; a reduced schedule starts after Labor Day. (Always check resort site for updates!)
