Rules for Carry-On Luggage

Monday August 14, 2006
It's a sad reality that in today's world, travel is a target of terrorists. And every time an attempt is made to attack an airplane-- even when the attempt is foiled-- security procedures change for everyone.

Checked luggage concerns
With more restrictions on carry-on luggage, naturally we need to pack more items as checked luggage: perhaps even fragile and/ or expensive items such as digital cameras, digital media, PDA's and laptop computers. But what about the risk of theft and breakage? You'll find tips about this too, at the link above.

Great tips!

The idea of having a vacation or trip with the family is just exciting. Choosing the best place is tiring and so does the preparations. But most of the families who seem to be engaged with the activity fail to consider the packing. Like in my case, I seem to be bringing the whole house with me when I travel.
These tips help us realize that enjoyment doesnt count on big packages.

UK Airport Security Update
With the reduction of the civil aviation threat level to Severe, things have settled down somewhat here in the UK. The restrictions on carrying liquids and gels as hand luggage remain, but laptops and other ‘large’ electrical items can now be carried as hand luggage provided they are removed from their bags for scanning - which should make our fellow business travellers happy.

For me, it is good news that the authorities are taking our safety seriously - we’ll just allow more time to check-in… and also consider using an airport lounge so we can relax in comfort if there are any delays.
