Many destinations these days offer family-friendly New Year's Eve events. Panama City Beach, for instance, has a giant "Beach Ball Drop"; in Hershey PA, a crowd counts down as a giant Hershey Kiss gets raised.

Typically, guests buy a First Night button which gives admission to all the fun; families can walk from one venue to another and enjoy several short performances. Often, fireworks end the night. First Nights are designed to be family-friendly and affordable.
