For those of you whose trip planning horizon only goes as far as the upcoming Holiday Season -- I hate to tell you, but volume has been building on "Spring Break" ideas since September. For popular destinations, it's strongly advised to do your booking now.

Spring break, for families with schoolkids in the US and Canada, typically means 10 school-free days during March or April. Fortunately, school districts take their break during different weeks. (Imagine what the crowds would be like in the Magic Kingdom if all schools were off during the same week.)

Check out twenty family spring break ideas that include ranch resorts in Arizona, a theme park preview in Hershey PA, Mardi Gras Weekends at Universal Orlando, National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC, Quebec City with side trips to the ski slopes and the Ice Hotel... (College "Spring Break", it should be noted, is a completely different animal - a wild, party animal-- and there are a number of spots that families will probably not want to visit during certain weeks. Read some tips about finding a good family spring break in Florida where many beaches are taken over by college-age craziness.)
