Now that the summer months are over, the crowds have thinned out at Disney World and September is a great time to visit, for families not tied to the school-year schedule. Those with wee kids will find a number of features and amenities at the theme parks, to make logistics easier -- read about visiting Disney World with babies and toddlers.
If budget permits, stay at a resort near the Magic Kingdom theme park. Three of the luxury resorts nearby -- the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary, and Disney's Polynesian Resort-- have quick access to the Magic Kingdom by monorail, which makes it easy to nip back to your guestroom for a mid-afternoon nap break. Several resorts also have boat shuttles to Magic Kingdom, which are a fun way to start a day in the theme park. For a budget-friendly choice, check out the 700-acre Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, which has boat access to the Magic Kingdom and great recreation on-site; guests can use the campsites or stay in air-conditioned Wilderness Cabins.
