Tripadvisor visitors voted this the #1 eco-resort in the world: the Jean-Michel Cousteau Fiji Islands Resort combines luxury, amazing kids programs, and exploration of the underseas.
Families in particular give rave reviews. Kids can have active fun and also learn about Fijian culture at the kids club-- but it gets better than that. Each child under 6 has a nanny for the course of their stay; meanwhile, kids 6 to 12 get teamed up with Fijian "buddies".
As for the focus on the tropical seas, which is to be expected with the "Cousteau" name: complimentary activities include guided snorkeling trips with the resident marine biologist, night snorkeling, glass bottom boats, and reef walks; packages include scuba too.
Other activities include kayaking, catamarans, rainforest walks, and a visit to a local village. Guests stay in "bures": traditional Fijian thatch-roofed bungalows (pronounced "boo-ray".) And yes, the rates for this 5-star resort are high but guests like that the price is all-inclusive. So if you're in the market for a luxury resort, you might head to Fiji-- which, by the way, is about 11 hours from LA.

Fiji is a wonderful location for any type of vacation including family holidays.
I basically holiday yearly in Fiji, and I’ve heard of positive feedbacks from Jean-Michel Cousteau resort including their children’s club and diving operation.
The location in Vanua Levu is also supposed to be stunning.
