Dogs definitely think they're part of the family, and would vote "Yes, me too!" to going along on any family trip. And kids love to have the canine(s) along on, say, a family road trip. The good news is that many hotels and even luxury resorts put out a welcome mat -- and a food dish and a cushion bed-- for pets these days.

But still, there are definitely logistical issues when traveling with a dog. Finding restaurant options, for instance, can be challenging.
