And there's other Disney Cruise news as well. For instance: Disney Cruise Line is teaming up with Mickey's family adventure company, Adventures by Disney, to offer privately-guided tours on Mediterranean and Alaska cruises, and to also offer three to four-day mini-vacations before a cruise begins. For example, families can do a "Vancouver Escape" vacation before taking a Disney cruise to Alaska, or they can do a "Barcelona Escape" before their Mediterranean sailing starts.

Meanwhile, for bargain-lovers: families can find "Kids Sail Free" pricing for seven-night cruises to Alaska on multiple sailings in May and June 2011 -- and "kids" means guests 17 and under.

Kids 17 and Under Sail Free on Seven-Night Alaska Cruises on the Disney Wonder

2011 is the first year that the Disney Cruise Line offers an Alaskan cruise. The Disney Wonder sails from Vancouver BC with a 7-night itinerary that includes four ports of call, at Tracy Arm, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan.

For most sailings departing May 3 to June 7 2011, Guests 17 and under can sail free when traveling with two full-fare paying guests in the same Verandah or Oceanview stateroom.

Several Port Adventures can be purchased on this cruise. In Skagway, kids can do a scavenger hunt through the Liarsville Gold Rush Trail Camp, try gold-panning, and have a visit with Disney characters. At Ketchikan, youth counsellors from the ship go with kids to learn totem carving from a native carver. In Juneau, the Port Adventure is called "Dog Musher for a Day": guests fly by helicopter over the Juneau Icefield and then tour a sled dog camp and explore behind-the-scenes areas including the kennel and vet clinic, before heading out on a sled trip on the glacier.

Rates for the seven-night Alaska cruise start at USD$1249 per person for an Oceanview stateroom, based on double occupancy.

See more about "Kids Sail Free on Select Alaska Cruises" at disneycruise.com, or call Disney Cruise Line at 888/DCL-2500, or contact a travel agent. Guests should specify booking code KFO when making the reservation. Some points to note:
  • Government taxes and fees are not included.
  • The Kids Sail Free offer is only available to U.S. and Canada residents, and can't be combined with other offers or discounts.
  • Suite, concierge and inside staterooms are excluded, and the number of staterooms available for the promotion is limited.
