Best Florida Beaches

Caladesi Island: Best Beach for Sun Worshippers
With its long coasts on both the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico sides, Florida has more than its fair share of beaches.

About.com's Guide for Florida Travel has a new list of Best Florida Beach Vacations, that includes Best Beach for Families, Best Beach for Camping, Best Beach for Shelling, for Surfing, and more.

Funny, isn't it, that all these terrific beaches are dwarfed in visitor stats by that tourism powerhouse, Orlando -- which is inland? Some visitors-- especially those from the UK, who come for longer vacations -- combine Orlando with a beach vacation, which is easily done: driving an hour or two either west or east of Orlando will get you to beautiful spots.

I agree – the beaches in Florida get dwarfed by Orlando… these beaches are some of the most beautiful in the US – and most are close to great historical stops as well – such as St. Augustine.

And what about the great opportunities to take in a Major league baseball game while vitising a great Florida beach.

I agree, the beaches out here are absolutely fantastic in the summertime…has anybody on this board heard of any good holiday rental people in Florida? My old agent’s folded and moved to South America, of all places. Can anyone help me?

Thanks…what kind of places can he provide? I’m looking for something 2fl, 2 b/2b from September 1st to maybe December…so it’s not exactly a vacation rental, more a timeshare.

They’re part of some kind of larger network…pleasantstays dot com or something like that– I don’t deal with the bigger companies at all– villa.us is great because the owner gets back to you right away and he has pretty good locations. anyway, I recommend that one because I’ve rented from him and it was just a delight.

Does anybody know of a halfway decent realty site for vacations in Florida? I keep getting referred to these huge, impersonal realty places with no sense of what I need or want. Anybody?

Hi Zep– No idea, man– I’ve been looking myself for about a week and a half to find something in my price range (I’m looking for a modest 2 bath– any takers?). There’s a couple sites that appear, for all their sophistication, to be run by a bunch of Cambodian teenagers or something. There’s a cpl im looking at right now– my-flo-vacation.com and http://www.villa.us.

Yeah– http://www.villa.us is the way to go. Dude there helped me in forty five minutes. He’s legit and has some nice places all over FL.
