Top Beaches

Once again, on Memorial Day weekend, "Dr. Beach" has issued his annual list of "America's Best Beaches". This year's top pick is one I can personally recommend as a beach with a wonderful location, laid-back town nearby, and a great spot for surf lessons. (And for you resort types: there's a swanky resort overlooking this bay).

Dr. Beach himself is a bona fide scientist who for over 20 years has studied shore erosion and storm impacts. He's also a scientist who'll pose on the sand with stethoscope, medical bag, and conch shell.

Click for his Best Beaches of 2009, along with some tips for families visiting these areas. And here's your note from the Doctor, in case you need to be excused from work or school: "You need to relax, enjoy [his] website, and take a journey to the beach."
