Whether they're in France or Florida, Colorado or the Caribbean, families love the convenience of vacation home rentals: meals and snacks in the kitchen, laundry on-site, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms-- and that's just for starters. Many vacation homes have swimming pools, jacuzzis, gardens where kids can play outside, and enough bedrooms for a family reunion.
Nice to learn, then, that TripAdvisor -- the mega-site where visitors post comments about hotels and resorts -- has started to cover vacation home rentals. Some 70,000 vacation rental listings in almost 1000 destinations are now "live" at tripadvisor.com.
Another new feature is a Vacation Rentals Calculator, that compares estimated costs for staying in a vacation rental versus a hotel.

I like TripAdvisor for finding lodging. But, I have also found that sites like Viscape.com are really nice for finding affordable vacation homes as well. You should check it out.
