Maple Sugar Weekends at NY State Frost Valley YMCA "Family Camp"
The 6000-acre Frost Valley YMCA Camp, in the Catskills in New York State, offers Maple Sugaring weekends on March 21-22 and 27-28 2009, with many activities and a range of accommodations for families, from cabins in the woods, to inn-style Forstmann Castle, lodges, and a turn-of-the-century country inn.
Maple Sugaring activities include a hike to the Maple Sugar shack, and learning how to identify a good sugar maple tree, tap the tree, and boil sap to make maple syrup.
Families can also snowshoe, cross-country ski, ice skate, tube-slide, hike; many indoor activities, too. Gear is available; guests can choose guided programs or independent activities.
Prices start at $139/person for the weekend and include lodging, meals, guided indoor/outdoor activities, and interpretive programs from Friday evening to Sunday lunch.
