Vancouver's a super destination in spring: where else can you ski, sail, and golf all on the same day? (Not that I'm advising such a manic schedule.)

Vancouver has a mild climate with only a few snowfalls in the winter; by mid-February, daffodils come up. There is snow, however, right where it should be: up on the peaks that give the city is stunning setting of mountains by the sea. Visitors can hike, bike, golf, sail, down at sea level; but even better, head for the hills and a day of snowsports. Three local ski resorts are a half-hour from downtown. Visitors can rent gear, and snow clothes, too.
