Sandestin has been a family-friendly place from the get-go, and recent goodies for teens have been added to the mix.
1. New Fun Stuff for Older Kids:
SooperSlide, a three-and-half-storey inflatable waterslide; two-story high Eurobungy, where you can super-jump around on a trampoline; Rock Climbing Wall.
2. TeenZone
Day and night programs for teens. TeenZone hangout on the beach has live music in the afternoons and on weekends. Group activities such as kayak trips, sailing, electric skateboards, Segway excursions, happen in the summer afternoons and evenings.
3. KidZone:two supervised day camps: half-days for kids 3 to 5, $35/day; full-day for ages 6 to 10,$55. Reserve in advance. (Check website for updated rates.)
4. Kid-Friendly Golf the Baytowne Golf Club is officially certified by U.S. Kids Golf as a family-friendly course: it has new junior tee boxes; and players can walk the course (handy, if you don't have a drivers' licence.) Kids under 12 get a free round of golf and free U.S. Kids golf set rental, when accompanied by a paying adult.
Also in the Golf department: the Dunes Putting Course is a big draw for families.
5. Resort Cash Card for Kids and Teens :
Kids can use this at all Sandestin-owned operations including Sooper Slide, The Dunes Putting Course, EuroBungy, Finz pool deck and Starbucks Coffee.
6. Family Nature Cruise with Sightings of Birds and Dolphins -narrated nature cruises through the Choctawhatchee Bay, from March through October.
7. Kids Evening Out Program For kids 3 to 10: pizza parties and movies, glow putt and bowling alley excursions from 6:00 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. Days of the week vary, with spring and summer seasons.
8. Playground at the Adventure Landing of Baytowne Wharf
This kid-designed playground opened in spring 2005: 9,000 square feet with castle maze, sunken ship, water tower, shark tunnel, and lots more.
9. Jolee Island Pirate Ship Playground : fun playground, in nice nature setting.
10. Family Concerts, Fireworks and Sunset Cinema through spring and summer - lots of fun for families.
In addition to all the above: free use of bikes; sailing classes; kayaking; boogie boarding; and lots more recreational activities -- some of them complimentary.
