Just wanted to give feed back on the riu vallarta. This was the hotel sugested to us and it was reserved for my wedding staying 7 days 8 nights. The service at this hotel was not good. There was no service by the waiters for drinks outside the bar area and no service at all on the beach. Drinks were watered down and they would even put water in the drink while you were watching and refused to give it to you without watered down such as tomato juice, orange juice and cokes. We brought 18 persons to the hotel for the wedding and they refused to let us use the arch they had outside due to us not using there wedding planner and tried to kick us off the public beach and tried to ruin my wedding. They refused to allow us to have our reception in the steak house and made a big fuss even though I had my own cake and had reservations at the steak house. They were very rude and there are not any hot meals after 10 pm. Many excursions dont get you back to the hotel until after 10 pm. meals were often cold or setting under heat lamp for a long time for dinners and lunches. My guest killed a roach on the buffet table and we had a very hard time eatting after that and ordered pizza delivery from domininos after that. There was not any kid friendly food such as corn dogs, chicken nugets, grilled cheese etc. A wedding guest had 180 dollars stolen out of his room by the maid while sleeping and they refused to help him. There was a smell outside that was so strong we could not eat outside. There were black birds that tried to eat off your plates even when eatting in doors. Birds pooped in one of my guest plates. All salt shakers did not work and they would not try to get you any more salt etc. There were bugs in the pool and it was hard to swim with the kids due to they had to swim in bugs and would cry. Our flight was canceled on our way home and worry free put us all up in the milia purto vallarta (thank you) and we saw what great service they had. The waiters delivered drinks to the dinner tables (even alchoholic drinks) and waited on us, and the food was great. I know now we will never return to another RIU hotel.
