Castaway Bay, Sandusky Ohio

Castaway Bay is a new resort with indoor water park, built at Cedar Point on Lake Erie, in Sandusky Ohio. (Cedar Point is a top amusement park for roller coasters.)

On July 4th, kids can "Picnic with Snoopy": create a craft, have lunch, and be entertained by the Peanuts character. Read more.

Pointe South Mountain Resort, Phoenix

This all-suites resort has a fun outdoor waterpark called The Oasis, with waterslides, wave pool, and river float; it also also has a special rate and activities for July 4th weekend.

Rates start at $169/night during Fourth of July weekend (with two-night minimum stay), plus $16 daily resort fee that covers entrance for up to four people to The Oasis, and more. Kids 12-and-under stay free with an adult and receive one complimentary child's menu item with every adult meal purchased at several restaurants.

Fourth of July activities include temporary-tattoo booth, caricature artists, balloon artists and magicians, dive-in movie at the wave pool; teen pop music concert; barbeque buffet. Call 877-800-4888.

Kalahari Resort, Wisconsin Dells

This resort -- which has both indoor and outdoor waterparks-- starts its Fourth on July festivities on July 3rd, with a "Clown Around" 4th of July Party: a party for the whole family that goes all night, with live DJ, games, dance contest.

Fourth of July Celebrations include clowns, shows, popcorn and cotton candy, 4th of July Circus Parade, games, crafts, karaoke, movies; and a steel drum band at the Zambezi Outdoor Waterpark.

At night, Kalahari is the only resort in Wisconsin Dells with its own fireworks.
