It's that time of year again: Star Wars weekends, which should be even more fun this year, with the release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. (It's great!)

On four weekends-- starting May 20 2005-- there'll be celebrations, star appearances, and special activities, such as Jedi Training Academy for some lucky kids.

Star Wars Weekends at Disney World

Star Wars Weekends take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for four consecutive weekends May 20 2005 through June 12. Star Wars fans already know that May 19 is the date when the movie “Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith” hits the movie screens.

The event centers around the “Star Tours” thrill ride at Disney-MGM Studios theme park, and features costumed characters from the six “Star Wars” movies.

b>Star Wars celebrities appear each weekend, in meet-and-greet sessions and Hollywood-style motorcades. The lineup (subject to change) includes:

May 20-22, 2005: Daniel Logan (Young Boba Fett); John Goodson (Concept Model Maker - Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith)

May 27-29, 2005: Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca); Rob Coleman (Animation Supervisor - Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith)

June 3-5, 2005: Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok); Don Bies (Unit Supervisor/R2-D2 Operator - Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith)

June 10-12, 2005: Jerome Blake (Rune Haako); Brian Gernand (Practical Model Supervisor - Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith) Star Wars Weekends activities include:

  • The Characters will be with You
    characters from every film -- from Kit Fisto and Boba Fett to Anakin Skywalker and Greedo -- roam Disney-MGM Studios, greeting guests, signing autographs. Even Mickey Mouse poses in in his very own Jedi costume.
  • Star Wars Legends
    Celebrities take part in a talk show-style conversation inside the theme park's ABC Theatre.
  • Who Wants to be a Jedi?
    Special editions of the game show attraction "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire-Play It!" - with themed questions and surprise appearances by film characters. The studio audience joins in answering trivia questions.
  • Obi-Wanna-Be
    Throughout the day, lucky kids are chosen for the "Jedi Training Academy," getting the chance to learn moves with a lightsaber with a Jedi Master, and then fight one of the evil Siths.
  • Behind the Force
    special film presentation about the making of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
  • One-of-a-Kind Collectibles
    Disney and Lucasfilm Ltd. have created special-edition merchandise.
