Family Travel Deal: Passports Included

Wednesday April 20, 2005
Starting in 2006, US travelers going to the Caribbean will need to carry passports to re-enter the US. As many Americans don't have passports, this means additional costs for holidays. SuperClubs -- which has family-friendly Breezes resorts-- is offering to reimburse your passport costs.

SuperClubs Reimburses Passport Costs

This information has been provided by SuperClubs

Starting in 2006, the US State Department will require that US travelers going to the Caribbean must carry passports to re-enter the US. In response, SuperClubs has created a "Passport Included" package: book by July 31 2005, and the cost of applying for and renewing passports will be credited towards all SuperClubs all-inclusive vacations in 2006.

Background: the changes in passport requirements

Until now, U.S. travelers have been able to visit the Caribbean, Bermuda, Mexico, Panama and Canada with only a driver's license and/or birth certificate.

In early April 2005, however, the U.S. State Department announced that Americans traveling to the Caribbean -- by air or sea -- will require passports to re-enter the United States. Dubbed the "Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative", this new rule is set to go into effect at the end of 2005.

Passport costs for a family can be substantial. At current costs for passport applications -- $97 for adults, $82 for children under 16 years and $67 for renewals -- a family of four could spend close to $400.

Details about the "Passport Included" promotion:

  • valid for SuperClubs' Breezes resorts (and several adult properties.) Breezes Curacao is popular with families.
  • guests must book their vacation and pay the deposit by July 31, 2005, for travel anytime in 2006.
  • non-refundable deposits of $225 per person need to be paid upon making reservations.
  • total costs of new and renewed passports will be credited towards the vacation package.
  • Proof that new passports have been applied for or renewed is required.
  • This promotion is available to all U.S. vacationers, including cruise passengers who are booking pre- and post-trips at a SuperClubs location.
  • The "Passport Included" package is applicable at 10 SuperClubs resorts in the Caribbean, including family-friendly Breezes Curacao Resort Spa & Casino, and in the Dominican Republic, Breezes Punta Cana Resort Spa & Casino and Breezes Puerto Plata Resort Spa & Casino.
