Baseball: Behind the Scenes 2005: itinerary

This information is provided by Generations Touring Company.

  • 7-day escorted tour is designed exclusively for families
  • Beginning in New York, families and intergenerational travelers will tour the city and then take part in a behind-the-scenes tour of Yankee Stadium – sitting in the same dugout as Ruth, Gehrig and DiMaggio.
  • While in New York, guests will enjoy dinner and conversation with a visiting sportswriter and gain perspective on sports journalism.
  • The evening will conclude with a box seat to see the home town Yankees take on the visiting Anaheim Angels.
  • The tour continues to Cooperstown, New York, home to Baseball’s Hall of Fame. The tour arrives at the onset of an Induction Weekend. [July 31 2005] Festivities abound as Spokane, WA native Ryne Sandberg (Chicago Cubs), Omaha, NE native Wade Boggs (Boston RedSox, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Devil Rays) and Jerry Coleman (voice of the San Diego Padres) join an elite group of professionals. See the world famous Hall of Fame Museum and its many exhibits. Witness the Induction Ceremony and keep an eye out for former major leaguers and teammates of the Inductees.
  • From Cooperstown the tour continues to Boston, Massachusetts, home to the World Champion Boston Red Sox. The first evening includes a short trip to Pawtucket, RI to see the AAA minor league franchise Pawtucket Red Sox. Families will enjoy the comfortable confines McCoy Stadium for dinner and a game.
  • The next morning you will have the opportunity to explore Fenway Park, home of the Green Monster in left field. You will learn about the “Curse of the Bambino” and how it preoccupied Boston fans for nearly a century. In the evening, you will have another great vantage point of the field from your box seat as you watch the Red Sox play the Kansas City Royals.
  • Note: the September tour does not include the Induction and will feature different teams.
