Stitch's Great Escape

Saturday October 30, 2004
Opening Nov. 16 2004: a new attraction at Walt Disney World, based on the movie "Lilo and Stitch". Stitch's Great Escape turns the clock back to before the movie begins. What was Stitch like, back then? Does the audience dare find out?

New attraction at Disney World: Stitch's Great Escape!"

-open Nov. 16 2004 in Tomorrowland, in the Magic Kingdom theme park.

Most parents and most kids have seen the movie "Lilo and Stitch", and will recall that Stitch is more properly called "Experiment 626", created by mad scientist Jumba Jookiba to embody maximum destructiveness. "Naughty" is a laughably weak word for Stitch.

In Stitch's Great Escape, Stitch is captured by the Galactic Federation and teleported to a processing center for alien prisoners. Park guests are asked to provide additional security, as Stitch wreaks his usual havoc, this time with sights, sounds and -- hold your noses -- smells.

Parents: make sure your child won't be frightened by loud noises and periods of darkness.

Stitch's Great Escape: Behind the Scenes

Stitch is one of Disney's "Audio-Animatronics" figures, created by Walt Disney Imagineers. He's a 39-inch-tall force of chaos animated with all the latest bells and whistles, including more than 350 hand-machined parts and 40 separate functions.

Other characters from the movie appear as well, including the Galactic Federation's Grand Councilwoman, Captain Gantu and Agent Pleakley. Apparently there's no Lilo, though.

Stitch's Great Escape! is a FASTPASS attraction, offering guests a way to avoid standing in long line-ups.

when i went to see stitch’s great escape i loved it but my mom didn’t. when we were there i got freaked out in one part of the show. the part when the teleporter was filled with smoke. i said repeatedly, “it is going to blow up.” but when it stopped, i got over it. i was laughing mostly at stitch’s great escape, because i thought it was funny. when he burped i felt his breath over my shoulders. my mom said it hit her neck. this is my comment about stitch’s great escape. i want to see this attraction.
