New Iberostar Paraiso Maya in the Yucatan

Monday August 9, 2004
-- note: this info is dated Aug. 2004: please head to more recent information about the Iberostar Paraiso Maya, and the Iberostar Playa Paraiso complex --

Iberostar Resorts is a worldwide chain with its home in Spain, and in recent years has been expanding rapidly in Mexico. In November, Iberostar will open its 7th property in the Yucatan: the Iberostar Paraiso Maya, located next to its latest resort, the Paraiso Lindo.

New: Iberostar Paraiso Maya, Yucatan

The new Paraiso Maya resort will have 432 suites, an 18-hole golf course (March 2005), spa and fitness center, seven restaurants, and a PADI dive center.

As for pools: the Iberostar Paraiso Maya will have eight: five shared with sister resort Iberostar Paraiso Lindo, and three smaller pools only for guests of Iberostar Paraiso Maya. The shared pools include a lake-style pool, a lazy river, wave pool, children’s pool and an activity pool.

What's special about this resort for families?

  • There'll be a kids' program, nine-hole "family" golf course, 5 swimming pools, ice cream parlor, games room.
  • 24-hour room service is nice for families too.
  • All-inclusive pricing includes kids' club and non-motorized watersports.
  • kids will like the lazy river and the wave pool( -- bring acqua socks if you have them)
The Iberostar Paraiso is located on "Playa Paraíso”, between Cancún and Playa del Carmen, less than 30 minutes from the Cancun International Airport.

I don’t know who wrote this information, but I just spoke to the Iberostar company and there is no nine-hole “family” golf course. There is a golf course that is open at the complex, but it’s an 18 hole regulation course.

Thanks for posting this, Laura! Turns out that there are plans for such a family course but nothing’s there yet. The page you’re reading is actually a blog dated Aug. 2004, so it describes what was announced, at that time, as planned for the resort. Since then there’ve been several pages added at Travel With Kids about this resort complex: for ex.,

http://travelwithkids.about.com/od/mexicoresorts/p/iberostaresorts.htm

And this page about the Maya:

http://travelwithkids.about.com/od/mexicoresorts/p/iberostaresorts.htm

You probably found the page through a search engine? I’ll make a note on it, to direct people to later content.

Bye for now…
