Club Med Sandpiper in Florida has 7-night all-inclusive vacations starting at $840/adult (reduced prices for kids.) Two hours southeast of Orlando, this resort is a rare all-inclusive in the US and is a top choice for families with --sorry to gush-- great activities and amazing kids' clubs.

Recently I visited Club Med Sandpiper with two of my sons, for a one-night sample of the unique Club Med experience. Here's a few of the highlights:

• activities include trapeze, in-line skating (everything from lessons for little kids, to a good-sized half-pipe), wakeboarding, tubing, and water-skiing; unlimited use of 9-hole Pitch'n'Putt, free Club Med golf lessons, and various golf packages.

• Kids clubs are outstanding. There's an entire Baby Club complex with spacious separate areas for "Peanuts" infants, "Rascals" (walking to 23 months), "Koalas" (2-year-olds), and "Tigers" (3 year olds). A Baby Bottle Room is stocked with breadkfast, snack, and late night needs; a Baby Club Med Restaurant opens for lunch. A large outdoor play area includes a wading pool.

Older kids get great kids clubs too: the clubs are more like camps, based on trying new activities such as trapeze or line skating or wakeboarding or water-skiing. I don't believe I saw a videoscreen or tv screen in any of the clubs.

• evening entertainment is fun for all. Every night offers a live show geared to kids; on the night we visited, this was followed by a karaoke kids show that packed the bar.

The ambiance is especially friendly because part of the Club Med experience is that "GO's" (Gracious organizers) socialize with GM's (Gracious Members.) Kids were warmly greeted and encouraged by Club Med GO's all evening.

An early-evening fun event was the "Sandpiper 500" where 4-year-olds raced pedal-cars accompanied by loudspeaker announcements. Read more about Club Med Sandpiper Florida at the Club Med site.
