Family Travel: pets too
Friday September 12, 2003
Love me, love my dog, the saying goes, and hotels are finally getting the message that for many family travelers, Fido or Buddy (right) is part of the family too. Some places even offer doggie amenities. See Travel With Pets to find pet-friendly hotels or perhaps a rustic B&B where everyone can run around in the great outdoors. Also, read tips about trips with pets. And by the way, if you're curious about Buddy...
What kind if dog IS that?
He's the offspring of an unlikely coupling.
Buddy's original family owned a Keeshound (Kaze-hound) and a Bichon Frise. The Keeshound, aka as a Dutch barge dog, is sort of shaped like a samoyed, with long, thick fur around the head and throat. The male Bichon Frise was a much, much smaller white curly-haired pooch.
How these two managed to connect during a moonlight trip to the back yard, I can't imagine. But four puppies resulted: three females who looked like bichons, and this furry male.
Keeshound frise? Bichon Kees?
One thing's certain: if anyone's going anywhere, he wants to come too.
